Announcement: Changes to Gmailify & POP in Gmail
Dear clients,
Please be informed that Google is updating how Gmail handles certain legacy email features, and this may affect your email workflows if you rely on these functions.
Date: Effective January 2026
Details: Gmail will no longer support the following features in the Gmail web interface:
Gmailify
This feature allowed integration of third-party email accounts (e.g., Yahoo, Outlook) into Gmail with enhanced Gmail features like spam protection and organized inboxes.
Check mail from other accounts” using POP
Gmail will stop supporting continuous fetching of emails from external email accounts via POP. This option will no longer be available in Gmail on your computer.
According to Gmail
- Existing imported emails will remain in Gmail. Messages already downloaded from other accounts before this change will stay in your Gmail mailbox.
- You can still send and receive emails from those external addresses using modern protocols like IMAP or via email forwarding set up directly with your other email provider.
- On mobile devices (Android, iPhone, iPad), Gmail will continue to support adding other accounts using standard IMAP connections.
If you have any questions, kindly reach out to the Google Support team.
Thank you for your attention.
Best regards,
