Office 365 How-To

Step 1: Collect the necessary information for MX pointing


1. Log in to Office 365 using a valid account 


2. Click on Admin 


3. Under Management, select Domains


4. Follow the instructions to add the domain


5. Click on Pending Verification next to the domain


6. On the Verify domain page, record the address (Example 123xyz) information to continue.


Step 2: Create new TXT or MX records for verification: 


TXT

=====

Record Type for TXT: @ or Empty 


TXT Value: MS=123xyz (This may be obtained once you have the records from Office 365)


TTL: 3600



MX

=====

Hostname: @ or domain name


Value: 123xyz


Priority: The lower the value, the higher the priority (Example: 0)


TTL: 3600 



Step 3: Verify Domain


1. Log in to Office 365 with a valid account 


2. Click on Admin 


3. Under Management, select Domains


4. Follow the instructions to add the domain


5. Click on Pending Verification next to the domain


6. On the Verify domain page, click on verify


7. If the verification is successful, a dialog will appear notifying you that your domain has been added to your account


8. If verification fails, it indicates that your domain might require additional time to propagate.


9. Click on Finish, and the domain will be listed as Active


Step 4: Add the MX records


Records type: MX


Priority: 0


Hostname: @


Destination Address: 123xyz


TTL: 3600


Step 5: Add 4 CNAME records 


Note: It is advisable to use 3600 seconds instead of 1 hour


Step 6: Add SPF records to prevent email spam 



Step 7: Add SRV records
