What is an addon domain?
An addon domain is a fully operational domain that functions from a folder within your hosting account.
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SETTING UP AN ADDON DOMAIN!
You cannot set up an addon domain until your DNS has propagated to the server. After changing the site's DNS, you will need to wait between 18 to 72 hours before trying to create your addon domain.
How do I create an addon domain?
Refer to the steps below for creating an addon domain.
1) Log in to cPanel
2) Click on Domains under the main Domains tab
3) Click on "Create A New Domain"
4) If you want to create a domain alias (where the website content will be the same as the main domain), select the option "Share document root." To create an addon domain, ensure you unselect the option "Share document root " and fill in the details for the addon domain, specifying the directory where the files for this domain will be stored.
5) Finally, click on Submit
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Make sure to unselect the option for "Share document root" when creating an addon domain. If this option is selected, the domain created will become an alias domain (sharing the same attributes as the main domain)
