Having your own backup is crucial. It's always recommended to maintain an up-to-date version of your website, particularly your database files, on your local device so that you can access a copy of your site in case of data loss. The backup process is quite simple.
1. Access cPanel (http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel) and select Backups from the Files section. cPanel provides several backup options: Full Backup, System Backup, and Partial Backups.
(a) Full Backup
A full backup encompasses all files in your home directory, your MySQL databases, and your email forwarders and filters. This type of backup is beneficial if you want to restore your entire account or migrate it from another host that also utilizes cPanel.
Depending on your account's size, the backup may take a few hours to finish. If your account exceeds 500MB, it's advisable to perform the backup during off-peak hours.
Just enter your email address (to notify you upon completion of the backup).
(b) System Backups
It is another form of a full backup created by the server. This type may not be current or comprehensive depending on the timing of the server's backup creation.
(c) Partial Backups
Download a Home Directory Backup permits you to download all files in your home directory (public_html). This option is useful if your website consists only of files and lacks a database.
Download a MySQL Database Backup allows you to back up a specific database. It is advisable to download this backup prior to conducting any maintenance on your database.
You can always utilize the restoration feature available under Partial Backups whenever you need to restore a backup.
Note: Full Backups do not provide a restore option; to restore a Full Backup, please contact our support team. They may need to delete your current account and restore it with your backup.
