When using WHM/cPanel, you may need to reset your cPanel password for reasons such as forgetting your login details or to enhance security as a best practice. This action can be performed through both WHM and cPanel accounts. This article outlines different methods for resetting cPanel passwords.
Method 1: From WHM Home » Account Information » List Accounts :
Choose your cPanel account; next to it, you can open the settings dropdown by clicking "+", where you will find the option to "Change Password." Here, you can enter your new password.
Method 2: From cPanel Home » Preferences » Password & Security :
You will need to enter your Old Password, followed by the New Password. After completing these fields, ensure the new password meets the required strength. Then click "Change your password now!" to reset it.
Note: Changing your password will terminate your current session, requiring you to log in again using the new password.
Method 3: From cPanel Login Page :
To reset your cPanel account password from the login page, type your cPanel's URL into a browser and click Reset Password.
You will then need to provide the cPanel username and the contact email address. Click Send Security Code to have cPanel send a security code to the registered contact email. Finally, enter the received security code and click Submit. You can then set your new password in the New Password field, confirm it, and click Set Password to finalize the password reset.
Note: If you do not provide a Contact Email Address, the system will display a placeholder email address when you try to reset your password. Additionally, you must use the same browser session that you used to start the password reset process.
